Babe's High-Priced Balls - My9 New Jersey

Babe's High-Priced Balls

Posted: Updated:
Trenton, New Jersey (My9NJ) - Back in the day, Babe Ruth made a promise to a hospitalized sick kid, Johnny Sylvester, that he would hit a home run for him. Johnny’s great-nephew, Andrew Lilley, had produced a documentary about that story and the infamous home run ball. Lilley discusses how that signed baseball was recently sold in an auction for a heaping amount of money.

“There was a lot of publicity surrounding this event. I think that for the first time in 20 years. I think it’s because of the film coming out but the baseball was just sold for $250, 000, which was an awesome amount of money,” Andrew said.

While this ball may have been sold for a massive amount of cash, surprisingly it doesn’t beat the record for the most money paid for one of Babe’s baseballs. The record-setting price for one of Ruth’s balls sold for $343,650.
