Local performers to compete in national arts festival

ALPHARETTA, Ga. -

You've heard it before when someone wins a big competition: "I'm going to Disney World!" But some local performers are lucky enough to be saying those words before their competition even begins.

Alpharetta performing arts group "Off Broadway Kids" is heading to Orlando to participate in the National Performing Arts Festival this weekend. Students from North Forsyth High School and St. Francis High School are also competing in the festival, in which young performers are coached and judged in an "American Idol"-type format by Disney pros. The festival encompasses several areas of performing, including musicals, puppetry, and improv -- and the group that wins the festival gets the chance to perform at Disney World.

Good Day Atlanta's Paul Milliken spent the morning with the "Off Broadway Kids" -- and talked to the young performers about preparing for the big event.
