Rachel Canning case and social media - My9 New Jersey

Rachel Canning case and social media

Posted: Updated:
Trenton, New Jersey (My9NJ) - Most of the country is still talking about the Rachel Canning case.  Chasing New Jersey is still trying to get comments from everyone from Rachel Canning herself to her boyfriend’s family to her caretakers, the Inglesinos.

Most are not talking but social media is.  Chasing NJ has continued to explore why this case is causing such an emotional backlash from the general public.

Dr Chuck Williams is a professor and anti bullying advocate and he says the story struck a nerve.

Things have gotten so crazy that several people unlucky enough to be named Rachel Canning have also felt the wrath of social media.  A South Florida college student and a another Rachel Canning from Pa. have had to defend their name.

Dr. Williams says that the real Rachel Canning is a complicated case as it relates to bullying because at the end of the day, she made this case public.

Chasing New Jersey asked several people on its social media platforms if they thought the criticism was too harsh for a case that may not directly impact any of them.

Some residents of West New York, New Jersey are happy with their beautiful views of Manhattan, but aren’t too happy about the noise that is coming over from the city. Residents who live at the Hudson Club apartment complex at Port Imperial say that the music that reportedly comes from a new concert hall at Pier 97 across the Hudson River in New York City is affecting their quality of life.
