Two workers at Mei Holiday Nails in Bridgeton had blurry vision after the owner said a woman angry about a broken nail went on the attack.

"They were like red. He could not see anything for a couple of minutes," said Bella Chen. Police identified the woman as 29-year old Hakera Cochran. They say she picked up a bottle of nail polish remover and squirted two employees in the face. It happened Friday when the salon owner said Cochran returned after she'd gotten a manicure and pedicure that morning.

"After two hours she came back and she said her nail was broken. But it's a fake nail not a real nail. If you hit something it will break," said Chen. Employees said they don't know why Cochran was so angry when they offered to fix the nail free of charge.

"My boyfriend tried to fix it for her and he said if you be nice. Everybody was nice to her because she's a customer. We don't want to make any argument with the customer. But she just kept yelling to him and was really angry," Chen.

Days later you could see where the acetone splashed on a chair where one of the workers was attacked. It ate away at the fabric and color. The bottle even says it's harmful if inhaled or swallowed. Chen said other customers ran and hid while she called police. An employee locked the door so the woman couldn't leave.

"It's probably one of the most off beat crimes that we've had. We've never had an incident happen like this in Bridgeton and we cover pretty much the whole gammit," said Lieutenant Michael Speranza with Bridgeton Police.

Chen says the crew is back at work but not without fear.

"I'm so scared because this never happened before," said Chen.

The victims were treated at the scene. One later went to the hospital but is okay.

Cochran was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. She was released on her own recognizance and has a court date coming up.
