Mother’s Plea For Medical Marijuana For Her Son

Posted: Updated:
Hope, New Jersey (My9NJ) - The medical marijuana for children debate continues and more and more parents are pleading for this treatment to help their children cope with heartbreaking conditions.

Jack Stormes is 14 years-old and needs a special strain of medical marijuana that is now legal in New Jersey but still not available to him.

Right now, Jack is nursing a broken shoulder that resulted from a violent seizure and this young teen had been through more than any child should have to deal with.

“In his 14 years he has failed 50 different drug combinations, he’s had two brain surgeries, he actually has a scar from ear to ear,” Jack’s mom Jenny recalls.

Jack’s father lives in California so they’ve seen the benefits of medical marijuana that Jack is able to get there, but isn’t available in New Jersey. As a result Jenny is forced to make her own marijuana elixir to give to Jack.

To make matters worse, Jack needs constant medical care, New Jersey does provide funding for a nurse for him, but because of nurse shortages, they regularly fail to show up making it nearly impossible for Jenny to keep a job because she is often forced to call out of work. The states solution for Jenny, go on welfare.

“If I go on welfare, the state does not limit me to 60 months like it does normal people on welfare because he is disabled. I can stay on it for the rest of my life. I have a young daughter who’s now 18 and I wanted to be a role model to her. I did not want her to think that, oh we can just live on welfare forever,” Jenny explained.

Jenny tried to find a solution. Since she is a registered nurse, she suggested that the state just pay the nursing fee to her so that Jack is cared for and the state doesn’t have the added burden of paying welfare, but so far they said no.

StubHub, which is a website that provides services for buyers and sellers for tickets to sporting events, concerts, and other live entertainment events, has been hacked. StubHub is getting a lot of bad press, but the site is really the victim here. The hackers have hacked accounts from other sites, and then used that information to get into the StubHub accounts.
