Passaic Pranksters Get Their Big Break

Posted: Updated:
Passaic, New Jersey (My9NJ) - Coby Persins and Gary Calixte of Passaic, New Jersey has turned pranking into a fulltime job. The two have been filming a bunch of pranks and putting them up on YouTube which helped them get the attention of a major production company that has offered the duo their own prankster reality show.

In one video, Persins is wearing a Scream mask and carrying a toy gun. He then jumps out and scares unsuspecting people while they are walking around Passaic. At first it seems funny until people start freaking out and he’s forced to tell them that it’s all for fun. In one instance the tables were turned and someone even pulled a gun on them.

Persins talks about the concerns they have for both their safety and the safety of the public.

“We do scope out the area sometimes and we’ll pick people that don’t look old or the younger crowd that isn’t per se gonna have a heart attack right on the spot, and they might laugh it off after. In the prank, we don’t show it but we do drive up on the people after and tell them it’s a prank, but the guy with the gun, we didn’t drive up on him that was not happening” he explained.

In another video one guy leaves his girlfriend in the dust while he runs as fast as he can away from the gun wielding Scream mask. Their pranks don’t always consist of fake firearms however. Persins said the two of them are just full of funny ideas.

“I think the best one would be like a fake celebrity prank where I got my big friends to be fake security guards which say security on their back. I got about 20 fake fans, I got a fake camera crew and we went to New York City. I came out of a Cadillac Escalade in front of this crowd and everyone thought that a celebrity was here. Everyone was taking pictures of me, saying I’m a celebrity, news got around and people were tweeting Coby Persins’ here, but no one looked me up and no one saw that I was a prankster. News reports on TV were like ‘ya this guy Coby Persins’, they don’t know who I am they just report on it. And that was probably the best prank” he said.
