Colbert’s Film Festival - My9 New Jersey

Colbert’s Film Festival

Posted: Updated:
Montclair, New Jersey (My9NJ) - The Montclair Film Festival is only a few short weeks away and the wife of political satirist Stephen Colbert, Evie Colbert, acts as the Vice Chairman for the festival which often attracts big stars to their hometown.

“We think with the film festival it introduces people who live not just in Montclair but who live in the surrounding area to artists and people who make their lives as artists,” Evie stated.

Some of the features presented during the festival go on to win Oscars, like last year’s opening film “Twenty Feet from Stardom”.

“I think that’s another example of a great film that our audience got to see first and it went on to win an Oscar and it was a great success,” Mrs. Colbert said.

Stephen and his wife who grew up in Charleston, South Carolina saw how festivals brought a big change to their community so they wanted to bring this to Montclair, New Jersey.

“For Stephen and for me it was very impactful in our lives. We were young people and we saw amazing things that we never would have seen,” Evie explained.

This year’s festival opens on April 28th with the film “Chef,” which is directed and starring Jon Favreau. The film is about food truck chefs who travel cross country. After, there will be a huge party for those guests who attend the festival. If you’re interested in attending go to, Montclairfilmfest.org to get tickets.

On Thursday, Hillary Clinton made her one and only book stop in Ridgewood, New Jersey promoting her memoir, Hard Choices, which details her life as Secretary of State. This one stop ironically was on the same day that Governor Chris Christie was out of town in Iowa on several fundraising stops. Was his absence a coincidence?
