Kansas City Inmate Wants 'Murder' Tattoo Removed Before Trial

Great Bend-KS- A Kansas inmate has the word "murder" tattooed across his neck, but get this, he's about to go on trial for first degree murder.

Now, Jeffery Chapman is begging for the tattoo to be removed before his trial begins.

Chapman says he's afraid the mirror-image letters spelling out the word "murder" might prejudice a jury.

Prosecutors aren't opposed to Chapman covering the tattoo.

However, getting it removed is another story.

In Kansas, only a licensed tattoo facility can remove body art, and the sheriff office's is against transporting Chapman to a licensed place.

Chapman's trial is scheduled to start next Monday.

He's accused of killing Damon Galliart in November, 2011.
