Dozens Of Animals Stolen From Popular Petting Zoo

Posted: Updated:
More than a dozen animals from a popular petting zoo in Groveland have vanished, including Elvis the star goat.

Petting zoo owner Patrick Borsey says he doesn't believe his animals escaped. He hasn't seen them in weeks and thinks someone stole them. He has put up signs and reached out to us, hoping for some answers.

Goats, turkeys, pigs, chickens, and donkeys call this place home. Borsey, who also owns the Redwing Restaurant has about 90 farm animals. He's rescued many of them and created the petting zoo six years ago. Now more than a dozen of the animals are gone.

"They just disappeared during the night. Someone came and took 13 goats and two pigs, all at once,” said Borsey.

It has been six weeks and there have been no leads, except for one. Lake County deputies recently recovered a baby pig.

"It's frustrating, it really is. I have little girls crying, because they came to see their favorite goats and they weren't here,” said Borsey.

"It's really kind of sad. I can't believe someone would do that,” said Kristen Fultz, who brought her 4-year-old son by to pet the animals.

Families come here all the time to pet the animals, but now it breaks Borsey's heart, knowing some of the kids' favorite animals are gone.

"I just want the animals back, that's the biggest thing. I was just hoping they would reappear just as Elvis mysteriously disappeared and reappeared two years ago,” said Borsey.

The petting zoo owner is offering a $500 reward for the return of his animals. If you have any information about this case, call the Lake County Sheriff's office. Deputies say the people involved in this crime are facing felony charges of grand theft.
