Woman Fights Off Man Who Forced HIs Way Into Home

Posted: Updated:

A Denver woman fights off a man who forced his way into her home sending him fleeing for his life.

Mary Kelso was home with her son when a man began banging on her front door starting off her super crazy morning.

"I opened the door and he said that he knew my husband and asked for his phone number," she said.

Kelso says she thinks the man had come to her home a month or so before, but she didn't open the door.

"So the second time he came I thought it was odd he came back again," she said.

When she closed the door to write down her husband's phone.

"He let himself in, took me to my bed room at gun point," number for the man, the suspect forced his way in what happened next is like something out of a movie. Kelso said.

At that point she told her son who followed us into the room to go wake up his uncle but her boy locked himself in his room that's when she went for her gun.

"We both just aimed at each other mine were in the case and I couldn't pull the trigger. He saw me, so he threw me to the bed and we kind of fought for a second kicked him off of me and kicked him into the dresser and I took my gun and hit him in the face with it and then I grabbed his gun and attempted to fire and missed and then he asked if I was crazy," Kelso said.

Bullet holes are very visible in both the bedroom and into the bath room closet when the bullets began flying the man began running from the home glad no doubt he made it out alive.

"I shouldn't have unlocked the door, but you know but you always have to fight in that situation because you never know what that person is there to do so you have to just do your best," she said.

Mary Kelso did her best. Both she and her son were unhurt and the uncle woke up when gun fire rang out.

Police are still looking to identify the suspect that fled from her home.
