Zoo Welcomes An Adorable Baby Rhino

Posted: Updated:
Special delivery at San Diego Zoo safari park meets Parvesh, a nine-week old , greater one-horned rhino.

The rhino calf and his mother charged into the Asian plains exhibit on Thursday and the small, but not tiny, calf, Parvesh was eager to explore his new home.

But the little guy hasn't quite mastered the art of being stable on his feet.

The proud parents, mother Alta and father Bophu, introduced their little one to the rest of the herd.

"We just introduced Alta and our 66th greater one-horned rhino, Parvesh, to the exhibit,” announced Peter Jones.

Jones continues, “so when they came out of the Boma, they ran around the lot.  Poor Parvesh was just trying to keep up with Alta. Alta, of course, knows where she is going.  Parvesh had a hard time; he struggled with some of the hills."

Parvesh, which means "lord of celebration" in Hindi, was born on February 25th.
