Today Is The 40th Anniversary Of The Flyers Winning Their First Cup

Posted: Updated:

40 years ago today, the Philadelphia Flyers won their First Stanley Cup.

The team clinched the cup knocking off the favored Boston Bruins 1-0 at the Spectrum.

The Flyers won the best-of-seven series four games to two and became the first team from the 1967 Expansion to win the Stanley Cup.

Many of the key players on that team are still a big part of our area.

The Flyers won the cup the following year as well but have not won it since.
