New Traffic Court Unit Created In Philadelphia

Posted: Updated:

Mayor Michael Nutter and District Attorney Seth Williams announced the new traffic court unit.

The unit will be responsible for prosecuting all traffic and motor vehicle related cases in Philadelphia. This unit is a part of the District Attorney’s pre-trial division.

The new traffic court unit will be in charge of 500 citations in a given day. There will be two municipal court judges responsible for 150 plus cases a day. Issues such as speeding and vehicle fraud cases will be handled.

The unit was created as a result of reconstructing the city’s traffic court. It was brought under supervision of the First Judicial District Municipal Court in June of 2013.
