Rooftop bars in New York City

NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

Beaches and boardwalks are always popular during Memorial Day weekend, but don't forget about all the rooftop bars New York City has to offer.

An enchanting garden oasis like no other awaits at Gallow Green. This overgrown urban paradise overlooks Chelsea, downtown Manhattan and the Hudson River.

Where else can you dine on Scottish cuisine inside a hollowed-out railroad car or sip on a hand-crafted cocktail as lush as your surroundings. For $60 the gin punch is perfect for sharing.

For breathtaking views of Midtown Manhattan including the Empire State Building, head to The Skylark on 39th Street. At 32 floors up, you'll feel like you're floating, especially when you try one of these dangerously good drinks. The drinks are a bit pricey at around $18 a pop, so you're also paying for the view. After, fill up on some yummy tapas you have to try the homemade potato chips and dip.

To see our iconic skyline from a different angle, you can't beat the views at Penthouse 808 at the Ravel Hotel in Long Island City. The menu features Asian-inspired fare and cocktails with a tropical flair.

Making New York City more energy efficient

More than half the population of New York City rides public transportation to work. No other metropolis in this country even approaches that percentage or the MTA's total number of riders. For that reason, New York likely ranks as the most energy-efficient city in the nation. But what would it take to make the city even more energy-efficient or even self-sufficient?
