NEW YORK (MYFOXNY) -

July 4th marked the 75th anniversary of Lou Gehrig’s emotional farewell speech at Yankee Stadium. Major League Baseball paid tribute to that iconic moment with a special video.

Yankees captain Derek Jeter was joined by all 30 Major League first basemen.

The group recited word for word Gehrig's farewell address.

At the time of the speech, Gehrig had already been diagnosed with ALS.  The debilitating illness is now commonly known as Lou Gehrig's disease.

The video was made to raise awareness to this fatal illness, which still has no cure.
