Suspects Charged In Shooting of 12 Year-Old In Paterson

Posted: Updated:
Paterson, New Jersey (My9NJ) -

Residents of Paterson, New Jersey have been mourning the tragic death of Genesis Rincon all week. The 12 year-old was shot in the head while riding her scooter around town over the 4th of July weekend.

Earlier in the week the Rincon family allowed Genesis’ organs to be donated, saving five other lives.

For days police didn’t have a suspect so it seemed like justice may finally be met when 19 year-old Jhymiere Moore voluntarily turned himself into police hours after hundreds of people rallied with the Rincon family on the steps of city hall calling for justice for Genesis, as Chasing New Jersey previously reported.

However, Friday was an emotional day in court. As soon as Moore walked into court in shackles, Genesis’ mother broke down and immediately left the room. Moore kept quiet throughout the court proceeding, but it came as a shock when his attorney, Harley Breite, announced that his client was pleading “not guilty”.

Breite explained that his client turned himself in because he heard around town that he was the target of this investigation and didn’t want to hide from police. He said that police have the wrong guy and that Moore was in no way involved in the shooting. Breite also said that he doesn’t know why police targeted Moore for the murder in the first place.

“I anxiously await that information and when the prosecution feels that the time is proper, they will reveal that to me,” Breite said.

Late Friday night, the Passaic County prosecutor’s office filed new charges against 21 year-old Jeffrey Ellerbee. He is being charged with one count of first degree murder and two counts of weapons charges. In addition, Marshae Anthony has also been charged with unlawful possession of a weapon.

At this time the story continues to develop.

StubHub, which is a website that provides services for buyers and sellers for tickets to sporting events, concerts, and other live entertainment events, has been hacked. StubHub is getting a lot of bad press, but the site is really the victim here. The hackers have hacked accounts from other sites, and then used that information to get into the StubHub accounts.
