TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Thousands of homes and businesses are without power as severe thunderstorms roar across New Jersey. Forecasters say the storms containing heavy rains and strong winds will continue to pop up throughout the day and could continue until early tomorrow. No major flooding or damage has been reported, but drivers are being urged to use extra caution as ponding may occur on roadways.
ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. (AP) - Four teens are facing charges from what New Jersey authorities say was the sexual assault of a highly intoxicated 15-year-old girl that was videotaped on a cellphone. The Bergen County prosecutor has charged three 18-year-olds, Justin Draper, Craig Howe and Ashari Wilson, with aggravated sexual assault. A 17-year-old faces the same charge as a juvenile.
JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) - A police officer in Jersey City shot a man who authorities say attacked the officer and another with a sharpened fence post. Tuesday morning's attack and shooting in the city comes days after a rookie police officer was gunned down in an ambush.
ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) - A Wall Street firm that was among the most pessimistic about the prospects for Internet gambling in New Jersey has cut its already-conservative estimate on the state's first-year online winnings by more than half. Tuesday's move by Fitch Ratings comes a day after New Jersey reported a third straight monthly decline in the amount of money won by the state's Internet betting operations, partnered with Atlantic City casinos.
