Southern New Jersey man faces child porn charges

Posted: Updated:

CAMDEN, N.J. (AP) - Federal prosecutors say a southern New Jersey man stands accused of obtaining images of child sexual abuse while using his cellphone.

Jeffrey Spicer of West Wildwood was arrested Wednesday by federal agents and charged with receipt of child pornography. He was remanded without bail following an initial court appearance, but a bail hearing was scheduled for Friday.

Spicer faces up to 30 years in prison if convicted. It's not known if he's retained an attorney.

Prosecutors say authorities executed a search warrant at a Cape May home where the 44-year-old Spicer was living at the time. They seized various forms of electronic and digital media from the home including Spicer's cellphone, a thumb drive and a computer hard drive.

Investigators determined that these devices contained multiple images of child pornography.
