Metropolitan area's charitable event with Chef Barbara Sibley

It's time once again for the metropolitan area's annual great food and charitable event, pairing top female chefs with women celebrities from Broadway, television, radio and publishing. Share Cancer Support's "A Second Helping of Life" is celebrating it's twelfth year providing fabulous small plates, exquisite wine and cocktails by the area's great female chefs. Taking place on September 21 at Pier Sixty at Chelsea Piers, this truly is one outstanding evening.

I am delighted to be participating as sous-chef at this foodie lover's dream for the tenth year, not only because I get to work with a star chef and re-connect with colleagues, but most importantly because all the proceeds go to Share Cancer Support's programs for women with breast and ovarian cancer.

This year, Jerseyite Pat Battle from NBC will be hosting the event. Well known for her television work, Pat is a senior New Jersey correspondent for NBC. Born and raised on the Jersey shore, Pat began her career writing for the Asbury Park Press. She has been actively involved with numerous charitable organizations in New Jersey, in addition to her work with Share.

One of the chefs participating in this year's fundraiser is Barbara Sibley of La Palapa Restaurant at 77 St. Mark's Place in New York.

Take a listen to Valerie's conversation with Chef Barbara Sibley, as she talks about her involvement with Share, her passion for authentic Mexican cuisine, and the secret to making spectacular guacamole.
