A Marine trying to help now faces gun charges

With Gov. Christie back from his failed presidential campaign, there's new hope for a pardon for Cody Donovan, an honorably discharged marine police officer who rushed to Garden State Plaza mall in 2013 when he heard that there was an active shooter .

Fear and panic overtook shoppers during the busy holiday shopping season when a man waslked around the mall with a gun, randomly firing shots. Shoppers were running for their lives, others hiding inside.

Cody, 22 at the time rushed to the scene and that decision ruined his life.

He was simply directing traffic but was carrying a loaded gun without a license to carry and he was dressed like the shooter.

He was charged with a second degree felony and pled guilty. He now hopes to get a pardon from the governor.
