Death threats against Republicans

A vote looms in New Jersey Nov. 4:  It's Dirty Politics Season in New Jersey.

In West Deptford, Republican mayoral candidate Ray Chintall had an arrow shot through his window and received letters threatening his life.

West Deptford police say they are taking the threats seriously and the chief called the behavior "shameful."

The letter to Chintall, who formerly served as mayor, reads "ex-trooper, ex-mayor, ex-living" and is rife with misspellings.

But it's not the only one.  Fellow Republican Committeman Jerry Maher says he's been threatened as well, from the moment he took office two years ago.

West Deptford Chief Samuel DiSimone said the evidence has been sent to Trenton for analysis, but he doesn't think he'll hear back until after the election.

He adds that such hijinks, if that's what they are, usually die down after Election Day anyway.
