Designer trash can be sold for cash

New York City's "Designer Row" isn't typically the place you go for a deal, but at night it's a different story.

Dumpster divers sort through garbage along NYC's Fifth Avenue on a regular basis. They search for paper shopping bags, shoe boxes and hangers that are thrown out by high end stores, like Louis Vuitton and Chanel, then sell the items on eBay, reportedly sometimes for hundreds of dollars.

The trend comes at a time when the fake fashion industry is soaring.

In 2015, researchers say the counterfeit industry raked in around $28 billion across the United States.
