Several people mourned the death of Marcy Borders at a Bayonne church last night, paying their last respects.

Borders is known around the world as the “Dust Lady” who was captured in an iconic photo as she survived the Twin Towers on September 11, 2001.

She died at the age of 42 after a year-long battle with stomach cancer.

Friends and family have gathered together for Borders, a woman they knew as “B”.

“Everyone here I’m sure is going to have a very good memory of her you know, good or bad, but that battles her own good because that was just her, you know, that was her,” Borders’ cousin, Tyrone Baskin, stated.

Borders’ cousin John Borders called her a hero on his Facebook page for everything she had survived and conquered in her life.

The Facebook post reads: “My Hero!! She has withstood many obstacles since this infamous day.. She now is barely clinging to life succumbing to the illnesses inflicted upon her that day.. Marcy, the family stands with you in Love!!”

Now, the question remains whether she will be added to the 9/11 Memorial at Ground Zero.

The medical examiner’s office said they have to directly connect her stomach cancer with the 9/11 terrorists attacks.
