Owners want to tear down 'The Watcher' home in Westfield

The couple that bought "The Watcher" house in Westfield, N.J., are petitioning the town to level the existing home and build two new homes in its place.

Derek and Maria Broaddus, who bought the home in 2014 for $1.3 million, in a lawsuit, say that soon after the purchase they received threatening letters from someone calling himself "The Watcher."  They claim the prior owners knew about the letters and should have disclosed that as part of the sales process.

The house is on the market, listed for $1.2 million. The planning board has scheduled a hearing on the rezoning application for Oct. 5.
