Questions about city workers at mayor's house

Video obtained by WNBC shows Paterson Mayor Joey Torres using city employees for work at his home, on his motorcycle, and even some party preparations.

These allegations are not a surprise to some. City Councilman Andre Sayegh, who ran against the mayor in the last election, said the allegations are "entirely unethical at bare minimum."

"The mayor exerts a great deal of influence over these employees," Sayegh said, and "that is why state law is abundantly clear on this issue on the ethics of using these employs for personal use."

In a statement, Torres said, "be advised that at no time has any city employee, on city time, or overtime, or paid with taxpayer dollars, ever performed work for me at my home, or anywhere else."
