3 NJ officers investigated for video of punching suspect

Three police officers in a northern New Jersey town have been placed on paid administrative leave as authorities investigate a violent arrest that was caught on video.

Video shared online shows police officers punching a man who was being held down on the ground.

The incident took place early Sunday in Dover, New Jersey. Cyprian Luke, 19, of Morristown was wanted on charges of assault, violating a court order and criminal mischief.

The man who shot the video says the officers also sprayed the suspect with mace.

The officers' names have not been released and no charges have been filed. Authorities say at least one of the officers was injured in the incident. Dover Mayor James Dodd characterized the video as "very disturbing."

But he urged people to not form opinions on the matter until "all the facts have come out." The Morris County Prosecutor's Office is handling the investigation.

Dozens of protesters gathered outside the Dover Police Station Sunday to draw attention to the incident.
