Four people were rushed to the hospital after being struck by a vehicle that jumped a curb following a two-car crash in Northwest D.C., according to officials.

D.C. police said two vehicles were traveling southbound on 9th Street, Northwest at when a driver overshot a left turn onto New York Avenue, Northwest at about 2:25 p.m.

Authorities said the car that overshot the turn hit the second vehicle, pushing that vehicle up onto a sidewalk. The second vehicle then hit four pedestrians, according to officials.

“He did not stay in his lane. He collided into us and we lost control of the vehicle and those four people got injured. I don’t know if their injuries were life-threatening, but it was still a horrible experience to see your car riding over people,” a passenger in the car, who asked not to be identified, said as she held back tears. The woman, who said she was 6 months pregnant, told FOX 5 her boyfriend was driving the car and that her 8-year-old son was in the backseat.

The pedestrians, all adults, were taken to the hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries, police stated. Authorities said all victims were conscious and breathing.

One victim reportedly suffered a broken leg and a woman was pinned under one of the cars, but bystanders lifted the car to rescue her, witnesses told FOX 5's Marina Marraco.

“We just heard this loud crash,” witness Dia King recalled. “We ran up here and we saw the Malibu was actually on top of someone. And everyone was like, ‘get the car, get the car,’ so like 20 of us ran and grabbed the Malibu and picked up the Malibu to get the person from out under the car.”

Investigators said the drivers involved in the crash remained at the scene and the incident doesn't appear to be intentional or an act of terrorism. Officials said the driver of the vehicle that was hit was arrested for driving with a suspended license. Authorities have not announced if the drive they said caused the crash is facing charges at this time.
