6-year-old NC girl dies just days after flu diagnosis

A 6-year-old girl from Wake County is the latest person in the state to die from the flu.

Emily Muth's parents took to social media to share her story. The little girl was diagnosed with the flu last Thursday, Jan. 18.

"She started to get symptoms on Tuesday. We took her to Urgent Care on Thursday the 18th and an EMT saw her this morning and said she had flu and it will get even worse, just keep her hydrated and she will be okay in a week or so, and today she is gone," her parents wrote.

Emily passed away from the flu on Friday, Jan. 19, 2018.

"Our hearts are aching and it feels like we lost a part of us. There is nothing worse then losing a child. She was our everything. She will be in our hearts forever," they wrote. "This was so sudden and we would appreciate anything anyone can give us. This flu is no joke and didn't have to happen. Please all of you who have children, please hold them tight and first sign of the flu get them to the ER."
