Bring on the boys at College of Saint Elizabeth

The College of Saint Elizabeth in Morristown is a private, Roman Catholic, four-year college for women, and has been all-women since it was established in 1899.

It is the last remaining all-women's undergraduate college in New Jersey, at least for now.

Last Friday, the board of trustees voted in favor of letting boys in the school for the first time in history in fall 2016.

However, a lot more than a better social scene went into this as the college has been struggling financially in recent years.

Over 30 faculty positions have been cut and enrollment is down 33 percent since 2013, something had to change.

Chaser Rohan Mohanty didn't want to wait until Fall 2016 so he went to the campus to see how some current students about the upcoming change.

The students were very excited about the prospects of boys coming to school and they think that it would shake things up for the better.

All in all it seems like most people are on board with the decision save for some alumni, who like the fact that they belong to a tight-knit group of empowered women.

The school noted a statement on its website regarding the change.

President Helen J. Struebert says, "We have a 115-year history of transforming lives and educating first generation college students. We recognize there is an opportunity to do this for both women and men."
