FOX 5 News and Atlanta police have been getting calls over the past week from Buckhead residents claiming to have seen a bear in the area. On Friday, officials located and captured the Buckhead bear.

Georgia DNR Wildlife confirmed that the Buckhead bear had been captured, and sent photos as well. Stories of the bear have spread through the community, and even led to the creation of the bear's own Twitter account.

According to Georgia DNR Wildlife, the bear got onto a rook of a detached building on 25th street. Police stayed on the scene till Kevin VonSeggern, the man who captured the bear, arrived. VonSeggern darted the bear on the roof, who then climbed down, and fell asleep near the area of the building.

The Buckhead bear was released at Lake Russell Wildlife Management Area on Saturday.
