Bus terminal gate changes for New York, New Jersey commuters

NEW YORK (AP) — About one-third of weekday commuters are now using new gates at the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey bus terminal in Manhattan, the nation's busiest bus terminal.

The Port Authority has reassigned gates at the 65-year-old bus terminal starting Tuesday in a bid to reduce delays and overcrowding for the 110,000 passengers who use it daily.

Most New Jersey Transit gates are consolidated on the third floor. Most Coach USA gates are consolidated in an area on the fourth floor.

Commuters can learn whether their bus routes are assigned to new gates at the Port Authority's website.

The Port Authority also will display signs to help direct commuters to their new gates.
