Convicted rapist on the run may be in South Georgia
FULTON COUNTY, Ga. - A convicted rapist who disappeared in the middle of his trial in Fulton County may be in South Georgia. That’s according to the U.S. Marshal’s Office.
Marshals said a tip on Charles Pinckney's whereabouts led them to the southern part of the state.
Prosecutors said Pinckney drove a 15-year-old girl to his apartment and raped her.
He was a DeKalb County Corrections officer at the time.
The day he was to be sentenced in October, Pinkney did not show up for court.
A jury found Pinckney guilty of statutory rape, child molestation, and sexual battery.
The judge sentenced him to 45 years in prison.
