DALLAS - A 2-year-old girl is alive today thanks to a Dallas police officer who jumped into action after she was found at the bottom of a pool.
Police said the little girl was playing with siblings Tuesday afternoon near a backyard pool and fell in. The pool was drained but had a foot or two of rainwater at the bottom.
She was unresponsive when her mother called 911 for help.
Sr. Cpl. Russell Crocker took the toddler, turned her over and gave her back compressions. She eventually choked up water and began to breathe and cry, police said.
The girl was taken to Children’s Medical Center for an evaluation. Police said she is in good condition and doing fine.
