NEW JERSEY (FOX5NY) - A student at the NJ Institute of Technology was shot and killed during a robbery at a campus fraternity house, according to the Essex County Prosecutor's Office.
The deadly incident at the Tau Kappa Epsilon House at 317 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard occurred at about 3:22 a.m. Monday.
Joseph Micalizzi, 23, of Freehold, was pronounced dead at University Hospital at 5:02 a.m., said officials.
The hunt is on for the gunman.
NJIT is offering a $10,000 reward leading to the successful prosecution of the person or persons responsible.
The fraternity's website says the chapter was founded in 1965 and "promotes scholarship, leadership, character, teamwork, service, athletics, and brotherhood."
The school is organizing a memorial service.
It is the second deadly shooting of a student in the area since last month when a student at Rutgers-Newark University was killed.
