Deadly stand-off with police in Trenton

A standoff continues in New Jersey's capital city between police and the man barricaded in a home after they say he exchanged gunfire with police, killing one person.

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - A standoff is in a second day in New Jersey's capital city between police and the man barricaded in a home after they say he exchanged gunfire with police, killing one person.

Trenton Police Lt. Stephen Varn says officers are still trying to negotiate with the man who police say started shooting when the U.S. Marshals Service Joint Regional Fugitive Task Force attempted to serve a warrant at a home on Centre Street in Trenton around 6:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Varn says the officers entered the house and the suspect opened fire.

Varn says one person was fatally shot outside and the officers retreated. Three Mercer County sheriff's officers suffered minor injuries and were treated at a hospital.

There is no information on the suspect or the victim.
