Did NYPD kill Brooklyn man moments after he helped them?
Rafael Angel Laureano was a competitive bodybuilder for years. But his strength may be exactly what put him in harms way and allegedly got him shot in the back by police in Brooklyn.
According to his son, the bodybuilder was killed while allegedly helping police break down a door to save a friend from her ex-boyfriend last September.
The 26-year-old son has been on a quest for the truth ever since the night he showed up at the hospital and was told by a detective that his father had been stabbed to death.
"The night that it happened I was at the hospital, talked to detective. He told me my father died form multiple stab wounds. Later though the medical examiner found out he was not stabbed at all, he was shot."
He was furious and felt like the NYPD had lied to him. He says that his father was at the apartment when police arrived. When cops couldn't get into the apartment door, they asked his father to break down the door. When he did, a man charged at them with a knife. Police then drew their weapons and fired, one of the bullets, killing his father.
Now the family is suing for $25 million dollars. The family's lawyer says the whole point of this lawsuit is to find out the truth.
