Georgia woman indicted in second overdose death

A Georgia woman convicted in connection to the 2013 death of a Google executive was indicted by a Fulton County grand jury in connection to another overdose death.

Alix Tichelman was indicted for distribution of heroin, and distribution of oxycodone, and two counts of felony murder in connection to the 2013 death of Masquerade music club owner Dean Riopelle.

In 2015, Tichelman, who was 26 at the time, pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in California court for the death of Forrest Timothy Hayes. Investigators said Tichelman was a high-priced call girl. Police said Tichelman injected Hayes with heroin and then left him to die on his yacht after he passed out.

Prosecutors said they had a video of Tichelman drinking wine while Hayes died from an overdose.

Tichelman was sentenced to six years and was since released. Following her release, she moved back to her native Canada. No word on when she will be extradited back to the U.S.

The case had caused authorities in Atlanta to re-examine the death of her on-again, off-again boyfriend Dean Riopelle, who also died from an overdose.
