Sount Plainfield, New Jersey (My9NJ) - Lorenzo Asiain, the new lead custodian at the Grant School, recently gifted the school with a one-of-a-kind, painting. Asiain’s artwork, which measures 34” by 48" and features the face of a tiger, was officially unveiled on Dec. 2 and is prominently hung, thanks to the PTO, in the Grant School entranceway, across from the main office.
“I was working at the other schools [in the district] and noticed they all had a picture of the tiger mascot,” said Asiain, who has been painting as a hobby since he was a kid. “I went home and checked the pictures of tigers on the Internet and thought maybe the school would like it.”
Selecting to use acrylic paint on canvas, Asiain first outlined the image and then filled it in. He also used neon paint, which will glow under a black light, around the tiger’s eyes and face. The painting took Asiain about eight hours from start to finish.
