In-N-Out has added a menu item, a rarity for the Southern California burger chain.

The home of the double-double has added hot cocoa to the menu-- but it's actually a return of the delicious cold weather treat.

In-N-Out President Lynsi Snyder says her grandparents served hot cocoa for many years beginning in the '50s.

"I’m not sure how it fell off the menu but it’s part of our culture and something special for kids, and I’m happy that we’re bringing it back," Snyder says.

She adds, "For a certain generation, hot cocoa is an In-N-Out classic, and we hope it will be a favorite of a new generation.  It’s quality cocoa from Ghiradelli and yes, we serve it with marshmallows!"

One Twitter user shared a photo of the cold weather treat, writing, "In-N-Out's hot cocoa is the bomb."

Another user posted a photo with the caption: "Our family's traditional post Christmas Eve dinner at In-N-Out with rare new menu item, Ghirardelli hot cocoa!"
