A Los Angeles police bomb squad found the bag to be harmless, Airport police Officer Rob Pedregon told City News Service.
"They cleared it at 6 p.m.," Pedregon said.
Police have now reopened the lower level of the Bradley International Terminal and the roads around the terminal, Pedregon continued. The terminal should soon return to normal operations, he added.
The bag was discovered about 4:55 p.m. and then upgraded to be suspicious, Pedregon said
Police then evacuated the lower level of the Bradley International terminal and called the LAPD bomb squad, Pedregon said.
The evacuation didn't hamper airport operations, Pedregon said. Passengers on arriving international flights were sent to a different exit to deplane. Meanwhile, departures continued as usual.
