Massive marijuana bust in Heard County
HEARD COUNTY, Ga. - A massive indoor marijuana growing operation was busted in Heard County last week.
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said they executed search warrants for two properties in the 6700 block of Rockmill Road in Franklin. Agents said they found 514 marijuana plants and more than 100 pounds of packaged marijuana.
Troy Alton Brown, 50, who was the focus of the investigation according to the GBI, was not on the property at the time. He was arrested April 26 by Oklahoma State Patrol during a traffic stop. Troopers there said he gave a fake name and then ran from the scene. He was later taken into custody. Agents said he was discovered with more than $22,000 in his vehicle.
Brown was in jail in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma awaiting extradition back to Georgia as of Monday.
Agents said the bust came after a month-long multi-jurisdictional investigation.
