More than birthday cards, 10-year-old boy becomes soldier for the day
MARIETTA, Ga. - It was a special birthday treat for a little boy who's battling a rare disease.
FOX 5 News first told you about Little Chase Howard when he made a request for birthday cards for his 10th birthday. People around the world heard about Chase's story and sent thousands of cards. But his community didn't think that was enough, so Sunday they threw him a party which included a limousine entrance, race cars, horses, motorcycles, and even Spider Man.

It happened at the Clay National Guard Center as Chase became a soldier for a day. Chase told his mother he wants to be a soldier when he grows up. After Chase's story went viral last week, the Georgia Department of Defense decided to give him one more birthday gift.
He visited the National Guard hanger as well as aviation and civil support. But then Chase got to meet with the general himself, where he was sworn in as an honorary soldier and given a special certificate to remember the big day.
