New Jersey Assembly set to try to override Christie veto

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie's successful record of vetoes might come to an end.

The Democratic-led state Assembly on Thursday is scheduled to try to override a gun control bill that Christie rejected this year.

A handful of Republican lawmakers joined all Senate Democrats in October and voted for the first time to override Christie's veto.

The bill would require anyone who wants to expunge a mental health record in order to buy a gun to first notify law enforcement.

Christie's office has said the Republican governor wants to work on a "comprehensive approach" on mental health legislation.
