A Warren mother is accused of drunk driving with her children in the car.

Police say it is not her first time.

"It's outrageous, there is no level of disappointment you can feel in someone that would do that," said Ofc. John Julian, Troy police. "This is not her first time. This is not her second time. I don't understand how anyone could do that to their kids."

Troy police say Saturday night at 10 p.m. an officer spotted a tan Chrysler Sebring driving erratically on southbound I-75 near Crooks.

"(She was) drifting over the solid line several times off the road onto the left," Julian said. "(She) drifted several times in the left through lane, weaving in and out of the left and center lane. Weaving in and out of her lane."

The alleged driver was Tiffany Shaw of Warren. Shaw is familiar with police lights in her rearview over the last several years.

"Her license was suspended seven times as well as having two prior suspensions," Julian said.

Shaw was arrested and charged in Berkley for drinking and driving, then in Ferndale. That time she was driving with her kids in the car.

Troy police encountered a similar situation Saturday as Shaw's children, ages 14, 8 and 5 years old, were inside. Shaw allegedly reeked of alcohol and marijuana.

"If you're going to make that poor decision, if you are endangering yourself as well as the other motorists on the road - but then you endanger your own children and make that poor choice on their behalf, it's inexcusable."

Troy police say Shaw failed every sobriety test given and say she couldn't recite the alphabet. But Shaw's belligerent behavior didn't stop there.

"They attempted to do a preliminary breath test and at that point she became belligerent and refused to take the preliminary breath test."

And after cuffing her and bringing her into the station, she allegedly assaulted a male officer, slapping him across the face and acting uncooperative and combative all the way to her cell.

"More bad choices compounding more bad choices," Julian said.

Troy police say Shaw is not in custody as they await toxicology results and her children with a relative.

Child Protective Services is investigating and police say she likely faces drunk driving related charges and more -- for endangering her children and assaulting that police officer.
