Two Port Authority police officers, who were surprised to learn U.S. military personnel are unarmed while working in uniform among the public, provided security at the Armed Forces Career Center Recruiting Sub Station Middlesex on Route 1 in Edison last week.

From Monday, July 20 through Friday, July 24, the two police officers who work together, felt it necessary to provide security and comfort to the recruiting station personnel in the aftermath of the July, 16 shootings at two Chattanooga, Tenn. military installations.

"We are proud our members took it upon themselves to do what they could to protect those who fight for our freedom,” Paul Nunziato, president of the Port Authority Police Benevolent Association Port Authority said. “Police officers have a strong connection with the U.S. Military and the Global War on Terror.
