Upstate New York man charged in fatal hit-and-run accident

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (AP) — A 41-year-old upstate New York man has been charged in connection with a hit-and-run accident that left one person dead and another injured.

Police in the city of Schenectady say the charges filed Monday against Adimu Goodwin of Schenectady included manslaughter, leaving the scene of a personal injury accident and aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle.

Officials say Goodwin hit 29-year-old Jerry Faine and 61-year-old Donald Shaffer as they walked across State Street last Friday night. Faine died from his injuries. Shaffer is in stable condition at an Albany hospital.

Goodwin is scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday morning in Schenectady City Court. It couldn't be determined if he has a lawyer who could comment on the charges.
