Wawa's own barista gives customers a pick-me-up through song

TAMPA (FOX 13) - If you need a pick-me-up, the Wawa gas station on Dale Mabry might be the best stop, and not just for the caffeine. While you're focused on the java, you might get a jingle from one of the Wawa baristas.

Raven Sharpe works for the chain at 401 North Dale Mabry in Tampa, and strives to put a smile on each of her customers faces, even if it's through a song.

"This is what I'm meant to do...spreading that love and energy for people," she explained to FOX 13's Walter Allen. 

Raven said she knows her regulars, by face and name. She also knows their order before they order.

"I know what kind of milk they want and how sweet. I know them by creamer and what kind of coffee they like," she said. "They say that I'm wasting my talents. They say that I should be on 'American Idol,' I should be on 'The Voice,' I should be on 'The Four.' They say I should be on something other than Wawa, even though my customers love me."

Raven said she applied for those shows, but is waiting to hear back. Even if she doesn't qualify, she started at Wawa about eight months ago, and is much happier than when she was a nurse.

At one point during her shift, she started singing, before stopping to yell the order, "502!" 

"Doing what I love to do everyday, and sing for my customers and I feel like it's a blessing," she said, before yelling inside the convenience store, "I love my Wawa people!"
