Who's a pretty baby? Baby talk improves our bond with dogs

"Who's a good boy?" Admit it! Many speak "baby talk" when they speak to their dogs. Now researchers have actually proven it through a series of tests at University of York.

Using "dog-speak" is critical in building a bond between a dog and their owner, according to scientists. During a series of tests, dogs were spoken to in a high-pitched voice and again in a normal adult voice. Researchers then monitored which speaker the dogs responded to and wanted to interact with.

In this new study, dogs wanted to spend more time with people who spoke in a high-pitched voice. But it also mattered what pet owners said. Adult dogs picked up on words like "walk" and "good boy."
