Woman's body found in car trunk following Texas police chase
Officials east of Dallas say a New Orleans man who led authorities on a highway chase following a road-rage incident told a sheriff's deputy that a woman's body was in the trunk of his car.
Thirty-three-year-old Freddie Gilbert was being held Monday in the Kaufman County jail on charges that include evading arrest.
Kaufman County sheriff's spokeswoman Jolie Stewart says police were notified Sunday of a road-rage incident in which a gun was fired at a car carrying four people.
A deputy found the suspect's car on Interstate 20, a chase ensued and the car later crashed.
The deputy found the body after being told it was in the trunk. Authorities have not released the name of the woman or the cause of death.
Online jail records did not indicate an attorney for Gilbert.
